Apple may launch a Pandora-like online radio service this year.

BTIG analyst Richard Greenfield says Apple is likely to debut a new internet radio servicce called iRadio this year.

“Consumer behavior (is) increasingly shifting toward access to a music catalog from ownership of specific songs,” Greenfield wrote. “We expect iRadio to be incorporated into the iTunes iOS app with personalized radio functionality akin to Pandora, integrated with iTunes to purchase music and other music related content such as concert information/tickets/merchandise via Live Nation and Ticketmaster.”

The analyst says Apple is currently still in negotiations with the music labels to get access to music catalogs for this service.

The iRadio is incorporated in the iOS iTunes with functions similar to what Pandora can offer.

Greenfield also predicts that the rumored iTV won’t be launched this year as it is still being hampered by content restrictions.
