BlackBerry Torch 2 – first pictures and specifications

BlackBerry Torch 2, or BlackBerry 9810 as it is known, looks good and boasts about its specifications.

The successor to BlackBerry Torch almost doubles the clock frequency of the processor, which now operates at 1.2 GHz, and the RAM of 768 MB can accommodate an increased number of applications. The 3.2-inch capacitive screen supports 640 x 480 pixels, displaying sharper images and more information than would fit in the area of 360 x 480 pixels offered by its predecessor.

The sliding QWERTY keyboard is hidden under the screen.

BlackBerry Torch 2 is compatible with 3G HSPA, a standard that allows speeds up to 14.4 Mbps for internet connection type mobiles. The internal memory totals eight GB and it may be expanded by adding a MicroSD memory card.

The list of improvements includes a GPS, NFC technology for electronic payment, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

The camera retains the 5 megapixels from the previous model, but receives a 720p support for recording.

The release date and purchase price haven’t been announced yet.
