Google’s 7-inch tablet launch delayed until July

The Internet giant has just postponed the release date of its future Nexus tablet although the concept is ready.

Originally scheduled for a May release date, the device was delayed until July because of a cost issue, as Google wants to lower the price from the current $249, according to unnamed sources cited by The Verge.

The device was apparently considered too expensive to compete with Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble’s Nook tablet that are both offered at $ 199.

However, some believe that this delay is due to Google’s intention to offer a tablet running Android 5.0 (Jelly Bean), but the OS won’t be ready this summer.

The model, developed in partnership with Asus, will be powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

It will also feature a 7-inch display and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it will be Wi-Fi only.
