iOS 5.1 allows users to access camera from lock screen

Apple’s latest mobile operating system provides an easier access to the iPhone’s camera from the lockscreen.

Previously, the iPhone camera required a few extra steps in order to be accessed. Users had to first unlock their device, navigate to the Camera app and launch it.

With iOS 5, users only had to double-click the home button and the camera icon would appear next to the slide lock.

Now, iOS 5.1 ensures an even swifter access. All you have to do is press the home or sleep/wake button once to see the lock screen.

The camera icon is now permanently positioned next to the slide at the bottom of the screen. All you need to do is drag it to the top of the screen and the app will load.

Sliding the lock screen down from the top of the screen or pressing the sleep/wake button will lock the handset device.
