According to latest reports, Apple plans to release an update to iOS in the coming weeks.

A leaked copy of the iOS 5.1 Gold Master shows that Siri’s new linguistic abilities include the presence of the Japanese language.

Other languages that are rumored to be supported by Siri include Chinese, Korean, Italian and Spanish.

In addition, another new feature is represented by a camera shortcut on the iOS lock-screen.

The camera button can be accessed from the lockscreen, but you need to double click the home button first.

According to Brazil’s Blog do iPhone, the camera button would only require a sliding up on the camera icon, similar to the horizontal “swipe to unlock” function on current smartphones.

Sliding up on the camera icon seems to reveal the Camera app that allows you to take photos without fully unlocking the iPhone.

Latest reports speculate that the iOS 5.1 will be released March 7, alongside the much-anticipated iPad 3.
