According to Japanese blog Macotakara, Apple is planning an event in February to announce the release of the next-generation iPad.

Reports claim that the device will be announced in February, but the actual iPad 3 will come out during March.

Macotakara blames the delay on the fact that the Chinese factories that are assigned the production if the iPad 3 units will be in the midst of the Chinese New Year celebrations, which begin early next week.

In addition, the California tech giant will release its mobile operating system, iOS 5.1, after launching the third version of its iOS 5.1 beta software to developers last week.

According to recent reports, Apple’s third-generation tablet is expected to include a high resolution screen, a faster quad-core processor and 4G LTE compatibility.

The tablet is expected to be a few millimeters thicker than its predecessor and it could include personal voice assistant Siri.
