A rumor predicting the release of the third-generation iPad at the time of Steve Jobs’ birthday has popped up ahead of Christmas.
According to the Economic Daily News, Apple is reportedly pushing to offer the iPad 3 by late February, more specifically on the 24th, the day that Steve Jobs would celebrate his 57th birthday.
The paper also said that iPad 3 component suppliers should keep working during the Lunar New Year holiday to honor orders, as 4 million units have to be available at launch.
In addition, 9to5Mac writes that Apple usually launches gadgets at press events on Tuesdays or Wednesdays and those products hit the market on a Friday or Saturday.
Feb. 24 is a Friday and the site speculates that the iPad 3 would appear in stores that day but be unveiled earlier in the month.
Of all the iPad 3 rumors so far, what is certain is that the tablet is supposed to be equipped with a Retina display and that it will be launched in the first trimester of next year. The tablet could include Siri and the A6 chip.
