The iPad mini has just been launched but rumors on its successor have already surfaced.
According to Chinese website DoNews, Apple might be working on a follow-up to the mini tablet.
The reported stated that display panel supplier AU Optronics is “already working on” a 2048 x 1536 Retina display for the iPad mini 2.
That equals the pixel resolution on the iPad 3 and iPad 4 that feature Retina screens.
The iPad mini features a 7.9-inch 1024 x 768 display.
Mashable also reported that Apple will be using Sharp’s IGZO technology in the next iPad mini.
The Retina iPad mini 2 is expected to arrive in the second half of 2013, according to the report.
