Citing “chatter from Apple’s overseas supply chain,” Tokepa analyst Brian White writes that Apple worked on the design of the iPad Mini in order to make it look better than the current iPad.

“Apple did not skimp on the aesthetics of the much anticipated ‘iPad Mini,’” White says, as cited by AllThingsD. “In fact, we believe the ‘iPad Mini’ could outshine the new iPad in terms of how the device feels in a consumer’s hands.”

White also estimates that supply will be low in the beginning, as the iPad mini is “more challenging to produce than prior iPad iterations.”

Previous reports have speculated that the mini tablet will come with a 7.85-inch display and feature the same design as its bigger brother, the iPad 3.

The iPad Mini is rumored to debut on October 17 in San Francisco, with a launch on the market later this month.
