iPad Mini teardown reveals Samsung display, components found in iPhone 5

A teardown of the mini tablet has been delivered by iFixit.

The operation revealed that the glass is easier to remove on this handset than previous iOS devices.

The deconstruction found a Samsung W1235 S6TNMR1X01 Display Driver under the hood.

The front glass and the touchscreen display panel are separated, as is the case with larger iPad siblings.

iFixit also found that the iPad mini is equipped with stereo speakers and a 3.78 V, 16.9 Whr, 4400 mAh battery.

The teardown also revealed that the device shares design cues and parts with the new iPhone.

A large metal plate placed behind the screen was found in the iPad mini, a structure that is also common to the new iPhone, as well as the fifth-generation iPod touch.

After this thin panel was removed, the geeks at iFixiti found the Murata 339S0171 Wi-Fi module, a component that can also be found in the iPhone 5.

The iPad Mini received a repairability score of 2 out of 10, mainly because of the “copious amounts of adhesive” Apple used to hold parts together and the multitude of tiny, hidden screws, according to iFixit.

The iPad Mini comes at a price of $329 and is available in stores starting Friday morning.
