In early 2000 Apple was busy developing what we know today as the iPad , but the model looked different.

BuzzFeed (via NetworkWorld) has posted photos showing the prototype next to an iPad 2.

The prototype featured a screen measuring almost 12 inch and was 1 inch thick, so it was much different from the iPad tablet as we know it today, or the first model of this product.

The old iPad prototype was 3 times thicker than the iPad 2 and had a screen that offered 40% more space for viewing images.

As we know, Apple has chosen to launch the first product eight years later and apparently it was worth waiting as the iPad is now the most popular tablet in the world.
