In anticipation of the iPhone 5 release that is set to take place this year, various concepts of the Apple smartphone surface on the net.

The new mockups, posted by 9to5mac, show an iPhone sporting the same aspect ratio as the one on the iPhone 4S, but a larger 4-inch screen device.

The first three mockups come from design student Daniel Bautista. The concept appears to have a stretched screen and less bezel.

The other image is from apfelpage.de, a German site that imagined a slimmer, curvier iPhone 5.

In addition, the device has an edge-to-edge display and the volume buttons appear to be in line with the case.

This last concept is particularly interesting thanks to the positioning of the widgets in the iOS 6-powered iDevice.
