Vodafone has launched a campaign to try to keep its clients with its own 4G service ahead of EE’s forthcoming 4G launch.
EE will start offering the UK’s first 4G service on October 30.
Vodafone has announced that customers who are owners of top-end handsets, such as the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 or Galaxy Note II, will be able to exit their current contract at a discount rate to make the switch to 4G.
Customers who own one such device will be able to switch to the new 4G service when it becomes available.
They will also have to pay the remaining charges for the rest of the original contract at a discounted rate of 30 %.
However, Vodafone won’t launch its 4G service until mid-2013, while rival EE making the service available from next Tuesday.
Customers must have an iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 handset on Vodafone that support 4G.
They will swap their old phone for a new one, so the phones must be in good working condition.
