Since numerous rumors have surfaced lately about the possibility of a future iPhone supporting a bigger screen, InRumor is making a poll on this subject.
The iPhone has featured the same-size screen since 2007 and it’s hard to say if Apple is planning on making a change with its next device, especially since last year users were expecting a larger display.
An iPhone with a screen that is bigger than 4 or 5 inches could turn out to be a move that is too dramatic and that could create additional problems for developers who would have to reassess their graphics applications.
On the other hand, iMore has obtained information from a source within Apple claiming that the iPhone 5 will stick to its current 3.5-inch screen that the company uses on the iPhone 4S.
In addition, Japanese blog Macotakara reported that Apple is working on a new product that will sport a 5-inch Retina display and whose release date is planned for 2013.
The resolution of this LCD will be 1,600 x 960 pixel (800 x 480 by legacy majour) or 1,280 x 960 pixel (640 x 480).
Such a handset would create additional problems for developers since that resolution would force them to work on other screen dimensions for their apps that would have to fit the new display screen.
In January of this year, 9to5Mac cited reliable from Foxconn claiming that the iPhone 5 is almost ready to go into production. The insiders also said that the device will have a 4-inch screen, that it will be bigger than current models and that its thickness is the same.
