EE have announced that they will bring 4G LTE connectivity to 10 major cities on October 30th. They include Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield.

EE CEO Olaf Swantee released a statement to confirm the launch that will take place this week:

“This is a significant milestone for the United Kingdom, and for the people and businesses of our country who will now be able to enjoy the huge advantages of superfast 4G technology for the first time. We are very proud to be pioneering, innovating and leading our industry in launching 4G for our nation through our new EE brand.”

By the end of 2012 an additional six cities will get the service and, according to the carrier, it will be five times faster than “typical” 3G speeds.

EE’s 4G services will be available on Apple’s iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820, HTC One XL and the Huawei Ascend P1 LTE.
