An adapter for the next iPhone’s smaller dock connector has been conceptualized.

As Apple is expected to equip its future iPhone with a new, smaller dock connector, market watchers expect the company to release an adapter for it as well.

Metablog.it has posted an image of what they believe could be the iPhone 5 dock adapter.

The accessory would be used with current iOS cables.

In the picture, the headphone jack is placed at the bottom of the device.

The dock connector for the future iPhone is rumored to have a 9-pin design, or an 8-pin one with a ninth connection in the metal frame surrounding the plug.

The iPhone 5 is expected to be released at an Apple event on September 12.
