iPhone 5 not likely at Apple’s WWDC to take place June 11-15

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developer Conference will take place June 11-15 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, the company has announced.

Apple’s invitation is tagged with the phrase, “It’s the week we’ve all been waiting for.”

The event will focus on iOS and OS X Mountain Lion software, which Apple has promised to release later in the summer.

“We have a great WWDC planned this year and can’t wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers,” Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said in a statement.

“The iOS platform has created an entirely new industry with fantastic opportunities for developers across the country and around the world.”

Although there is no official announcement regarding an upgrade to the iOS, if Apple sticks to its tradition we may see a new version at the June event this year.

In 2011 the company launched the the iOS 5, which powered the iPhone 4S that was released in October.
