Pre-orders for Apple’s latest iPhone exhausted the stocks within an hour after opening at midnight.
Within an hour, shipping times slipped from one to two weeks in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, and Australia for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
The 32GB version of the smarthone is currently showing a two to three week delay in some regions.
This means that buyers might have to wait an additional 1 or 2 weeks after the official September 21 launch date in order to get the new iPhone.
There is also the alternative of queuing at one of the Apple stores on 21 September but new iPhone models usually sell out quickly in this case. Apple stores will open at 8.00am on that day.
At last year’s iPhone 4S launch, the company ran out of pre-order stock and the order time was extended to four weeks.
