On Friday pre-orders for the new iPhone were up for customer demand.
Within hours after going on sale, the initial shipment of the new iPhones sold out.
Shipping estimates slipped to as far as 4-5 weeks.
According to The Loop, Apple was taken aback by the huge number of customers pre-ordering the device.
“Pre-orders for iPhone 5 have been incredible,” Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris told the site. “We’ve been completely blown away by the customer response.”
The iPhone 5 will launch in stores on September 21.
