iPhone 5 pre-orders to start Friday at midnight

Pre-orders for the new iPhone 5 will start on September 14th.

Apple has confirmed to Wired that it will begin taking pre-orders after midnight tonight.

You will be able to place your iPhone 5 pre-orders starting at 12:01 AM Pacific Time / 3:01 AM Eastern Time.

Sprint and Verizon will also be taking pre-orders for the iPhone 5 on early Friday morning.

Sprint will begin pre-orders at 12:01 a.m. PT Sept. 14 and Verizon will start a full minute earlier at 12:00 a.m. PT Sept. 14.

The iPhone 5 is priced at $199, $299 and $399, for the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB versions, with two-year contracts.

Apple fans who want to purchase the smartphone directly from the company’s retail stores, the new iPhone will be available starting at 8 a.m. local time on the Sept. 21 launch date.

On that same day, the handset will go on sale in 9 countries and a week later it will be launched in 22 more nations.
