iPhone 5 release: Apple’s Philip Schiller says there’s no plan for new iPhone dock

Apple’s Senior VP of Marketing has said that there are no plans to release a dock for the new iPhone.

9to5 Mac reports that Schiller recently responded via email to a customer who wanted to know if the company will release a dock for the new iPhone in the future.

“I noticed that Apple didn’t release a dock for the iPhone 5. I love docks and bought 2 for each iPhone model. Should I stay tuned or is the Apple-made dock dead?” the anonymous sender wrote in the email.

Phil soon replied: “We do not plan on making a dock for the iPhone 5. Most people who use docks use them with speaker or clock systems.”

The email bears the signature “Sent from my iPhone 5” at the end.

A report indicated that third-party manufacturers are already shipping Lightning cable adaptors.

In addition, Nanotch and iTronz are offering pre-orders for 30-pin to Lightning adapters.

The iPhone 5 will launch on Friday, September 21st at 8 a.m. local time.
