iPhone 5 release brings dozens of people to launch in 22 more counties

The iPhone 5 went on sale in 22 more countries on Friday.

Today, the new iPhone went on sale in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

Last week the device was launched in 9 countries: the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

According to AppleInsider, the iPhone 5 will be available in 100 countries on 240 carriers.

The handset was also offered on a number of U.S. regional carriers today, including Cricket, C Spire, Bluegrass Cellular, Cellcom, GCI, Golden State Cellular, Nex-Tech Wireless, Pioneer Wireless, Appalachian Wireless, MTA Solutions and nTelos.

nTelos Wireless, operating out of Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, and North Carolina, launched the iPhone 5 at $149 on a two-year contract.

The 32GB model is offered by the carrier for $249 and the 64GB model at $349.

The new iPhone is expected to become Apple’s best selling product ever, after selling a record 5 million units in its launch weekend.
