iPhone 5 release date: colorful banners going up at Yerba Buena Center

Preparations for the launch of the next iPhone are underway.

Invitations for a media event set to take place on September 12 have been sent out by Apple.

The event will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and will begin at 10:00 AM Pacific / 1:00 PM Eastern.

MacStories has posted photos taken by Steve Streza showing that Apple has started installing logos and banners at the entrance to the venue.

The main banner features a rainbow-like design and has a giant Apple logo placed on it.
