As the launch of Apple’s next iPhone approaches, rumors on the much-anticipated device are rife.

Earlier this week, an AT&T source has told BGR that the iPhone 5 is prepared for launch on the carrier on the third or fourth week of September.

The company was reportedly forced to reschedule a “huge” training event for regional employees that was once set for the first week in October because of a “huge announcement” which many speculate is the release of Apple’s next iPhone.

iMore reported that pre-orders for the next iPhone will start on the same day the device is launched, that is Wednesday, September 12, and shipments will begin nine days later on September 21.

A second wave of iPhone 5 launches, for international markets, will come about three weeks later, in early October, likely on Oct. 5.

According to 9to5mac, European carriers, such as Deutsche Telekom, are getting ready for the September 12 Apple event by offering pre-order tickets through its distribution partners.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster believes that the iPhone 5 could sell 26 to 28 million devices in the September quarter and that 6 million to 10 million new iPhones could be sold in the last 10 days of the month.

Korea Times reported that Apple is in talks with two Korean carriers to bring the future device through their LTE networks.

Gotta Be Mobile has posted a 2-minute video detailing all the rumors on the upcoming iPhone 5.

A list of the rumored iPhone 5 technical specifications has been posted online by GSMArena.

Leaked parts for the upcoming iPhone were also rife this week.

At the start of the week reports surfaced stating that the new dock connector actually has 9-pins.

According to AppleInsider, the new dock connector’s aluminum shell combines with the 8 gold pins to make a ninth pin, resulting in 60% less real estate than the current 30-pin port.

French site Nowhereelse.fr, via Chinese forum Weiphone, posted pictures of what is claimed to be the next iPhone’s logic board.

Talking to 9to5 Mac, iPhone repair specialists of iDeviceGuys concluded that the new logic board has more antenna connections than the iPhone 4S logic board which could hint at 4G LTE integration in the future device.

The smaller size of the SIM card slot could be an indicator that a nano-SIM card might be included in the next iPhone.

iFixYouri posted a diagram showing where all of the leaked iPhone 5 parts fit onto the motherboard.

A smaller SIM card that is smaller, a slim rectangular-shaped battery, the camera, the volume and vibrate buttons, the dock and headphone jack are included in the pictures

A comparison between components for the iPhone 5 and the corresponding parts from the iPhone 4S was made by repair firm SmartPhone Medic (via Cydia Blog).

In the video, the nano-SIM tray, the volume buttons, the Lock and Home buttons are smaller than the ones found in the current iPhone.

UBreakiFix received photos of the full front panel of the device from one of their distributors.

Macgasm posted a comparison between several Ultra Olephobic and Ultra Crystal screen shields sold by SGP and the iPhone 4S, noting that the new screens are only 10mm taller than the current model.

A concept created by Clément Boutillon presents a thinner iPhone 5 that doesn’t feature a Home button and with an enclosure made from anodised aluminium, which makes it more resistant.

In order to bring a thinner iPhone on the market, Apple is rumored to be planning to use in-cell display technology.

Fortunately, the company has been granted a US patent for a “Touch screen liquid crystal display” that details several methods of integrating the touch-sensing elements of the touchscreen within the LCD.
