iPhone 5 release: photos of first unboxing of new iPhone appear online

Pictures of the first unboxing of the iPhone 5 were posted online by BGR.

The photos show the new EarPod headphones, a new power adapter and the Lightning to USB cable.

The EarPods are apparently packed with a small plastic travel case.

Apple will launch the iPhone 5 on Friday in the U.S., U.K., Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore and plans to make it available in 100 countries by the end of the year.

Pre-orders for Apple’s smartphone topped 2 million units in the first 24 hours of availability.
