iPhone 5 rumors: a recap so far, new details about the iPhone 5 design

The iPhone 5 rumor mill has been in full swing lately.

Rodman & Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar is cited by CNET as writing that the next iPhone represents “the last project that Steve Jobs was intimately involved with from concept to final design. For that reason … this product will establish the high water mark for iPhone volumes.”

The analyst adds that the late Steve Jobs followed “closely” all the steps from the concept to the final design, which should make it “cult classic” at the time of its release, probably in the summer of 2012.

In addition, the iPhone 5 is rumored to adopt a thinner design and a bigger screen while maintaining the size of the iPhone 4S with the technology 4G-LTE.

According to the site 9to5Mac, Apple’s new iPhone could feature a quad-core processor and a 4 inch OLED display with 960×640 resolution.

Speculation is also rife regarding the iPhone 5 release date, said by many to be the summer of 2012.

While news of Steve Jobs’ untimely death still fresh, Apple has decided to make available the new update for the operating systems of iPhone, iPad and iPod: iOS 5.

The update brings 200 new features, among which the most notable are the Notification Center , fully customizable, the arrival of a unified messaging application iMessage, the new application reminder, which makes sure that you remember important tasks and can even alert you depending on your location.

iCloud is the star of this new version: now your photos, documents, notes, emails, contacts, applications, music is automatically synchronized between your various devices. That means there is no need to connect your iPhone, iPad or iPod to your computer to update its equipment as this will happen “over the air” via the Wi-Fi network

iCloud can record and store the content selected by the user in the clouds, meaning on Apple’s servers.

On Monday Apple announced that it sold more than 4 million iPhone 4S units in the phone’s first weekend on the market.

The handset will be released in 22 more countries on Oct. 28 and 70 more countries by the end of the year, the company said in a statement

This week also saw rumors about the iPad. Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeff Fidacaro told tech blog All Things Digital that the next-generation iPad is already in production, with AllThingsD writer John Paczkowski guessing that the iPad 3 will be released in March 2012.

The Korea Times write that Apple and Samsung will continue their manufacturing partnership despite their current disagreement over patent infringement.

“It appears that Apple clearly has concluded that Samsung remains a critical business partner,” a source said.
