As the release date of the iPhone 5 is fast approaching an analyst is predicting a huge success for Apple’s next smartphone.

FBR Capital analyst Craig Berger believes that the iPhone 5 will be the company’s “most impactful” device so far.

He estimates that the handset will sell 250 million units during its lifespan, grossing a total of $144 billion in revenue.

“We calculate that the device represents an opportunity to generate earnings of $50 per share throughout its life cycle,” Berger wrote in a research note.

“We estimate that Apple should sell 250 million iPhone 5 units at an average ASP of $575, generating nearly $144 billion in revenue, $77 billion in gross profit, and $47 billion in net income.”

Berger also believes that Apple will launch the iPhone 5 on China Mobile’s service next year.

“If China Mobile launches the iPhone in early 2013, we anticipate that Apple could generate 13 million units sold [to China Mobile customers] in the first half of 2013,” Berger wrote.

China Mobile is the world’s largest mobile carrier with 688 million subscribers and rumors of a partnership with Apple have been around for long.

As for specs, Berger expects that the rumored larger screen, faster processor, and NFC technology could lead to huge sales.
