Japan’s Sharp Corp. will reportedly start shipping screens for Apple’s next iPhone.
At a press briefing in Tokyo on Thursday, Sharp CEO Takashi Okuda confirmed that the first screens will be shipped this month.
“Shipments will start in August,” Okuda said, without making any reference to any possible technology based on which they will be produced.
The iPhone 5 has been rumored to feature an IGZO screen, but finally it seems that in-cell technology is what Apple has chosen for this device.
If production starts in August, a September launch seems very likely.
Recent reports state that the handset will be presented by Apple at a September 12 event, with a release following nine days later.
