iPhone 5 rumors: next iPhone to sport a new 19-pin dock connector

Apple has been rumored lately to be planning to give up on the 30-pin dock connector.

The picture below presents a potential case of the next iPhone with a new location for the dock connector.

According to Apple sources cited by TechCrunch, the new handset is scheduled to be equipped with a new type of dock connector.

The new port is similar to the Thunderbolt one implemented in many MacBooks, but the configuration of internal components is different, so a Thunderbolt cable won’t be used to connect a Mac to another device.

According to three independent manufacturers cited by the site, the pin-out will be different.

The insiders claim that Apple is currently working on the 19-pin dock port and the official confirmation of the standard is awaited by many accessory manufacturers.
