iPhone 5 rumors: photos show comparison between new 9-pin dock connector and Micro-USB

Several shots present a comparison between Apple’s smaller port connector and the standard Micro USB.

The photos, posted by French blog nowhereelse.fr, were provided by the same source that sent some of the first images of the new smaller dock in August.

These new pictures reveal that the two components are quite similar in size.

Apple’s rumored new port will have an 8-pin build, featuring eight pins exposed on either side of a metal shell that serves as a ninth contact.

This layout allows users to plug the cable in any orientation.

The images also contain Meizu adverts behind the cables but the source who sent them said not to “pay attention to [that] detail.”

The iPhone 5 is expected to be unveiled next week at a Sept. 12 media event.
