iPhone 5 rumors: Sprint to maintain unlimited data plans for next iPhone

Sprint will continue to stick with its unlimited data plans for its next LTE products.

Sprint Nextel Chief Executive Dan Hesse told CNET that the carrier will apply this policy even if the next iPhone offers 4G LTE support.

“I’m not anticipating the unlimited plan would change by that point [when the next iPhone ships]. That’s our distinctive differentiator,” he told the site.

Hesse believes that the decision will attract new customers to the carrier.

“Frankly, it’s a marriage made in heaven,” he said about the unlimited data plans for the iPhone. “We’re clearly attracting customers from our competitors.”

On Wednesday, the company announced its first-quarter results, revealing sales of 1.5 million iPhones, which is nearly half, to new customers.
