Apple is rumored to be funding Hitachi and Sony in making 4-inch IGZO displays.
According to recent reports, the Cupertino company has signed a deal with Sharp to build LCD panels for its next-generation devices.
AppleInsider claims that Apple has invested a “significant amount” in Sharp for the production of IGZO displays, which will allow the device to be thinner and offer better battery life.
The IGZO display will apparently boast a higher 330ppi resolution in the same slimline form.
Reports say that shipments of the displays are already on the way.
IGZO panels are expected to first appear in Apple’s iPad 3.
