Rumors of a longer display for the next-generation iPhone have been persisting this year.
The next iPhone screen is rumored to be updated from the current 3.5-inches featured in the iPhone 4S to 4-inches.
This bigger screen will give the device a resolution of 1136×640 and more space for apps.
A video posted by MacRumors shows what this larger 4-inch display would look like in action.
The site speculates that the additional space would be good for larger app folder sizes and that games and apps should be modified in order to take advantage of this new change.
Current apps would be “letterboxed”, with an empty black space at the top and bottom of the larger display.
The 1136×640 resolution would almost match the 16:9 ratio that most widescreen monitors and televisions feature and it would be good for widescreen movies.
