Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone had a major impact on Verizon’s third-quarter earnings.
The carrier activated 3.1 million iPhones during the quarter, with 650,000 of those being the iPhone 5.
The device represents 46 % of the 6.8 million smartphones Verizon sold in the three-month period.
However, the sales fared below expectations due to supply constraints.
“The iPhone 5 had supply constraints,” Verizon’s chief financial officer, Fran Shammo, said during a conference call. “I’m not sure where it stands with the supply constraints.”
Shammo expects sales of the iPhone to ramp up in the fourth quarter.
