Here is the latest news surrounding the iPad 3, a few hours before its launch.

According to The Verge, the iPad 3 won’t use the quad-core A6 system-on-a-chip, but only the A5X, a dual-core SoC.

The site’s source revealed that Apple isn’t planning on launching the A6 any sooner, and that the company would rather wait for the release of the iPhone 5 to introduce the chip.

The site reports that the new version of the A5 includes improved graphics capabilities and more RAM than on the previous model.

In addition, the tablet will include the much-anticipated 2048×1526 Retina Display and it will support 4G LTE.

The iPad 3 will be launching for both Verizon and AT&T with different LTE versions for each carrier.

The site’s insiders also confirmed rumors of a new Apple TV model that is expected to have 1080p capabilities and will work in conjunction with iPads, iPhones and devices that run Mountain Lion, to offer streaming / mirroring functionality.
