Less than a year ago at the CES 2012 Liquipel showed the world the potential of the first version of what today has evolved into Liquipel 2.0, which brings many new features to the waterproof system to protect our device.

According to Engagdet, the Liquipel 2.0 is significantly advanced in terms of strength, durability, corrosion and water protection.

This version is said to be 100 times more effective, maintaining the integrity of the components and sensitivity.

A demo video shows what the Liquipel coating is capable of. An iPhone 5 is held more than half a meter under water and still appears to function properly.

According to Managing Director Sam Winkler, a device carefully treated with Liquipel 2.0 can achieve a net protection rating of at least IPX7 (immersion at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes).

Winkler announced that his company is now offering “Liquipods” (machines that perform the waterproofing treatment) for stores who want to offer the Liquipel treatment.
