Apple’s third-generation iPad launched at Apple retail stores around the world today.
The device went on sale Friday at 8 a.m. local time. The tablet also went on sale in nine other countries.
Verizon, Walmart, Best Buy, Radio Shack, Sam’s Club, Target and AT&T are among the carriers that will offer the new iPad.
The handset has a 9.7-inch screen. And it is also the first iPad to support LTE 4G broadband connectivity.
With a price tag of $499 to $829, the new iPad also boasts on a Retina Display, an improved camera and a quad-core A5X processor.
Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimated that Apple will sell more than a million new iPads on Friday, based on “previous Apple launches.”
That is a significant raise from the 300,000 tablets sold in 2010 when the first iPad tablet was launched.
