Nissan has announced the development of a technology that would allow the charging of batteries for electric cars in 10 minutes.

The Japanese manufacturer announced today the development of a revolutionary car charger, developed in collaboration with Japan ’s Kansai University.

The technology consists of changing the electrode inside a capacitor from carbon to tungsten oxide and vanadium oxide to improve power. The innovation could reduce charging time from 8 hours to just 10 minutes.

The fastest charging time so far is about 30 minutes but it could take up to 10 years to actually commercialize the technology.
