The designer sparked speculation that Cupertino was working on the much-anticipated iTV.
Last week, Starck was quoted by Macrumors as saying that there was a collaboration between him and the Cupertino tech giant on a “revolutionary” product and that the result of their work should arrive within the next 8 months.
However, Apple has denied any collaboration with Starck and the designer explained that the project actually relates to a yacht for the family of Steve Jobs.
“It’s not a project with Apple. It’s a private project that began with Steve Jobs and that has been taken over by his wife,” a spokeswoman for Starck told The Wall Street Journal.
The French designer also revealed during the interview that he used to meet with Jobs monthly in Palo Alto, Calif., for seven years and that now he meets with Jobs’ wife, Laurene Powell.
Steve Jobs’ plans to build the yacht are detailed in the late Apple CEo’s autobiography by Walter Isaacson. He started designing the boat after a cruise from Italy to Turkey which he described as his “best vacation.”
“I didn’t think I would be alive when it got done,” Jobs told Isaacson. “But that made me so sad, and I decided that working on the design was fun to do, and maybe I have a shot at being alive when it’s done.”
