New information on the sixth-generation iPhone appears every day.

Recent speculation on the possible launch of Apple’s next iPhone has pointed to a September 21 release date, with the product being introduced nine day earlier.

Now, according to sources cited by AllThingsD, an Apple media event will take place that week.

The site writes:

“iMore was first to report that the company has scheduled a special event for Wednesday, September 12, and now we’ve confirmed it as well. Sources tell AllThingsD that Apple is currently planning an event for that week. And while we haven’t yet confirmed its focus, history suggests it will indeed be the new iPhone.”

To support their claims, AllThingsD presents a graphic which shows that Apple has spent 1.15 billion dollars in advance for components, a sign that the company’s partners have already begun production of the iPhone 5.

So far, The Verge, The New York Times, Bloomberg and Reuters have confirmed through independent sources that the presentation will take place on September 12.

The iPhone 5 is expected to features a series of upgrades, including a 4-inch display, 4G LTE technology, NFC and 1GB of RAM, as well as a thinner design, a smaler dock connector, a metal back panel and an HD front-facing camera.
