Geekbench benchmark scores show that the sixth-generation iPhone is significantly faster than the new iPod touch.
The iPod touch 5G is powered by a dual-core Apple A5 800 MHz CPU and scored 617 points in the performance benchmarks.
The score places it between the iPhone 4S, that earned a 654 benchmark score, and above the original iPad, with 454 points.
The new iPhone comes with a dual-core Apple A6 1300 MHz processor that scored an impressive 1,573, making it the top iOS device in terms of speed.
The third-generation iPad follows the iPhone 5, with a 823 score.
