The Samsung Galaxy S3 is pegged as the world’s most popular smartphone model according to a new research.

Recent data from Strategy Analytics show that Samsung’s Galaxy S3 is the most popular smartphone in the world.

The research shows Samsung sold 18 million units during the July – September period.

By contrast, Apple sold 16.2 million iPhone 4S units and 6 million iPhone 5 units in the same interval.

This means that Samsung Galaxy S3 is the leader in worldwide smartphone sales in Q3 of 2012.
