Samsung won’t be presenting its upcoming Galaxy S device at the Mobile World Congress 2013.
According to a person familiar with the company’s launch plans cited by CNET, Samsung won’t be making any major announcements at the event that will take place in Barcelona from February 25 to 28.
Market watchers expected the Galaxy S4 to be officially announced at the MWC 2013.
However, the report states Samsung will hold its own separate event later this year for the launch of the anticipated device.
Last year, the Galaxy S3 was unveiled in May 2012, in a dedicated event. Recent rumors have pointed to a Samsung press conference scheduled for March 22 where the handset is expected to be displayed.
The MWC could be quite standard this year as BlackBerry launched its newest smartphone at its own event this week and an HTC event will be held a week before the show in Barcelona.
