Most of the rumors surrounding The New iPad have received confirmation today with the launch of Apple’s latest tablet. This has raised hope that the iPhone 5 too will prove that all the speculation was spot-on.

The New iPad will have a dual-core A5X processor, but also a quad-core processor that will support Retina Display and a 2048 x 1536 resolution.

The screen of the new tablet measures 9.7 inches and offers 3.1 million pixels. In addition, it comes with 44% more color saturation.

A baseband chip has been implemented in the device and it is capable of running on networks around the world: EVDO 3.1 Mbps, 7.1 MbpsHSPA, HSPA + 21 Mbps, DC-HSDPA for 42 Mbps and 72 Mbps LTE 4G.

Besides 3G, 4G LTE support is offered on the new tablet, as it has long been rumored, with speeds of up to 72 Mbps anywhere in the world.

The tablet’s rear 5 megapixel camera is the same as the one on the iPhone 4S and it is capable of recording in 1080p format directly from the tablet.

The camera is equipped with a light sensor that allows you to take high quality pictures in low light.

An iSight camera is placed on the front of the tablet, allowing users to make FaceTime calls at a high resolution.

Also, a voice-dictation system similar to the one found on the iPhone 4S, is included on The New iPad. The tablet offers voice-dictation, marked by the presence of a microphone icon on the software keyboard.

Users just need to tap on the button and voice their commands. Although it doesn’t offer the same quality as Siri, the feature does bring forward the possibility of the implementation of the assistant on the next iPad. Japanese language support will be included.

The handset is 9.4mm thin and weighs 1.4 lbs, offering 10 hours of battery life, with 9 hours on 4G.

Versions and prices were also announced: $499 for the 16GB model, $599 for the 32GB one and $699 for the model featuring 64GB.

Starting with March 16, the tablet will be available in 10 countries around the world, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, with preorders starting today.
