Difficulties in the construction of the hardware drivers have led to the delay of the launch until next year.
According to InformationWeek, ASUS, Lenovo, HP and Dell are having difficulties in the construction of the hardware drivers for the dual-core Intel Clover Trial Atom Z2760 processor.
This processor promises a good battery life and high performance, like the ones offered by the iPad and Android tablets.
This delay affects many manufacturers, including Dell with the Latitude 10 tablet, HP Envy x2, Asus VivoTab Smart and the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2.
Currently, the only two models that integrate the Atom Z2760 processor are the Samsung ATIV Smart PC and Acer Iconia W510.
“HP and Dell are conceding they’ve given up on the consumer, so missing the holiday season is not that big of a deal. They’re not missing that magical time of the year,” analyst Cindy Shaw of research firm DISCERN said.
“But the longer it takes for businesses to get their hands on evaluation units, the longer it’s going to take to translate into enterprise sales.”
