Official: Ferrari launches new FF

Today, Ferrari officials unveiled the first images and technical information for the new FF. This is the replacement for 612 Scaglietti and, at the same time, the most practical Ferrari in history. Besides, the new FF (acronym for Ferrari Four) is the first Italian model with four-wheel drive.

The model is powered by a V12 engine with direct injection, which has a displacement of 6262 cc and offers a maximum output of 660 hp at 8,000 rpm. Peak torque of the V12 unit at 65 degrees is 683 Nm and it is offered at 6,000 rpm. The average fuel consumption is estimated at 15.4 liters per cent, while CO2 emissions are 360 grams per kilometer. The model can reach a top speed of 335 km / h.

Ferrari’s innovative all-wheel drive system is 50% lighter than a conventional all-wheel drive and maintains an ideal weight distribution for a car. Thanks to this system, the new Ferrari FF offers maximum performance regardless of weather conditions. The model is equipped with a new generation of SCM3 electromagnetic dampers and a braking system, with carbon and ceramic items made by Brembo.

The transmission of this model is trans-axle type, which means that the engineers at Ferrari assembled the dual-clutch gearbox near the rear axle. The model can accelerate to 100 km / h in 3.7 seconds, thanks to its remarkable power, as well as its ratio of 2.7 kg per horsepower. Due to optimal weight distribution, the model promises to provide an exceptional level of maneuverability. Being the most practical model Ferrari ever created, it offers a trunk volume of 400 liters (it can be expanded to 800 by folding the rear seat) and can accommodate four passengers. The exterior can be painted in six specific hues.

The debut of the new Ferrari Four will take place at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Auto Show in Geneva did not bring anything special to the Morgan stand, maybe a series of statements that have satisfied the curiosity of fans.

British manufacturer is preparing a new model, ready to go out on the street within three years. The claim belongs to Charles Morgan, grandson of the man who founded the niche manufacturer.

Charles has hinted that the exotic brand enthusiasts can get acquainted with a new concept in the Pebble Beach Concours event, which will be held in August this year.

The concept will be a sports car, able to carry up to four passengers that will not compromising the performance, under the hood followed to find a V8 unit.

The series product, which will derive from the concept presented this year, will position somewhere between the traditional Morgan models and high-end Aero, which means that its price will stop somewhere between 40,000 and 50,000 euros. More information about the final model will be unveiled in 2012 or 2013, near the launch.

Rear seat is foldable and provides a variable load space. All changes are made according to the spirit of Bentley and respect the tradition and language design of the mark from Crewe.

Bentley will build only 20 copies of this particular model, each with a starting price of 804,000 dollars. Depending on the answer Bentley will receive they will consider developing some future Touring models.

This year’s edition of the Geneva Motor Show presents many impressive concepts. Hyundai said it would bring to Geneva a great concept, called i-Flow.

Created at the Hyundai Design Center in Rüsselsheim, Germany, i-Flow could anticipate future model of class D of South Koreans, which will compete with Citroen C5, Ford Mondeo, Opel Insignia and Toyota Avensis.

It is not known yet whether I-Flow will replace the current generation,Sonata, or if there will be a smaller model. The new concept follows the philosophy design of the Fluid Sculptures from Hyundai, the teaser released confirming this.

Hyundai said that the new i-Flow uses many new products of BASF, from light materials to solar cells, which helps to reduce weight and improve energy efficiency of the new model.

Considering latest Peugeot’s hybrid show cars, the best looking car of that range is the SR1 roadster concept which will be inaugurate next March at Geneva motor show 2010.

The new concept has a symmetrical styling and looks like reminiscent late-model 404 cabriolet, which shows the automaker’s future design direction. The SR1 is distinguished by its long hood and flowing fenders which exude elegance, with sculpted door panels, which dramatically blend into the rear fenders.
The SR1 is a very advanced and also a very attractive car. A largely part of the care is constructed from plastic except the doors, the hood and the roof which is retractable. The manufacturer chose this type of design because it reduces weight and stiffens the structure, but, depending on the polymer used, could be quite recyclable.

Taking a look on the inside of this wonderful car we observe a 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 which powers the front wheels, while a 95-hp (70 kW) electric motor drives the rear axle and also the SR1 puts out 313 hp. The SR1 can be operated as a front-wheel, rear-wheel, or four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Rumors say that the “BMW M Division will become the pinnacle of Efficient Dynamics, and also that BMW is ushering in a “Brave New World of Performance”.
Recent rumors say that the next M5 will have a variant of the V8 engine used by the X5M and X6M, tuned to have more horsepower and torque than the V10. The engine will be paired to a new dual-clutch transmission based on the M3′s gearbox. The driver will control shifting through paddles mounted to the steering wheel. Despite getting nearly 570 horsepower, fuel consumption on the new model is “expected to be between 25-30% better than the E60 M5.” That should translate to about 14.5mpg in the city, and 22mpg highway, a huge improvement over the 11/17 figures posted by the outgoing model.
Moreover, rumors say the fuel consumption will be kept low by using Active Aerodynamics at the front and in the wheel arches. Small turbines will be built into the grille to use the drag created by braking as electricity.
Another rumor refers to a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS), similar to that developed by the BMW Sauber F1 team, will be used on the car. When pressing a button, the driver will utilize the KERS’ Twin Parallel Supercapacitors to provide a ten-second power boost. This system should appear on the BMW Active Hybrid 5 concept as well going on view in Geneva next March.
Rumors say that aside from a new stability system, look for the 2011 BMW M5 to get options like carbon fiber brakes, and carbon fiber roof. Bigger brake outlets, wheel arches, and new side air intakes can also be expected.
Consequently, the M5 concept is expected to hit the stage at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, with the production and market launch of the 2011 BMW M5 taking place just before the Frankfurt show later that year.

The third hybrid from BMW could be presented in concept version at the Geneva Showroom. This is based on the new Series 5 and offers 258 HP.

BMW could present the hybrid version of the new Series 5 F10 at Geneva Showroom in 2010. The new hybrid from BMW is still in the stage of concept and it’s waited to debut on market at the end of 2010. Unlike the other models, Active Hybrid X6 and Active Hybrid 7, who already reached production, the hybrid based on Series 5 will have a gasoline engine with six cylinders and 218 HP assisted with an electrical engine of 40 HP.

Being a hybrid model, the new Active Hybrid 5 will have some aerodynamic improvements for a less fuel consumption and maximum efficiency.
The ground clearance will be reduced to a few mm over the standard version of Series 5, and side sills, front bumper and other elements will be optimized for a better aerodynamic coefficient. Even the wheels and any caps for wheels will have this kind of treatment, to ensure that the moving elements will opposes a resistance to advancing.

BMW is waited to show the multitude of surprises at the Geneva Showroom in 2010, but these are only rumors for now. Active Hybrid 5 appearance at the showroom is another possibility, the BMW staff didn’t validate such a hypothesis.
