American steals a Nissan Altima from Japanese showroom

Jacory Phillips, an American-born man, was arrested and charged with car theft. He entered the Five Star Nissan showroom in Albany, New York, took a copy of the Altima model and drove the car directly through the glass doors of the building.

Jacory Phillips damaged the doors of the building and then fled the scene, said Phyllis Banks, spokesman for Albany Police Department.

Shortly after the theft, Early County district authorities were notified by a worker at a gas station that a male person was “begging” money for fuel. The police immediately connected the “beggar” with the incident at the Nissan showroom and went to arrest Jacory Phillips.

“The reports are that he was asking people for money to buy some gas and that someone at the store reported the suspicious behavior,” Phyllis Banks said.

This is not the first time Jacory goes to jail as he has previously served time for 60 days in January 2009. As far as the Nissan showroom is concerned, it was open two days after the incident and the damaged doors were covered with plastic wrap.

Police in South Africa is looking for Uwe Gemballa, the founder of the German tuning company Gemballa Automobiletechnik.

He disappeared three weeks ago. Uwe Gemballa was supposed to arrive in South Africa, where he intended to open a showroom, on February 8th and return on February 10.

South African police is working with German police to solve the case, said the police spokesman, Vishnu Naidoo.

Rumors say he might was kidnapped. Gemballa asked his wife to send him one million dollars after he had a traffic accident.

Gemballa Automobiletechnik has only 40 employees and builds super cars that end up costing up to $ 700,000.

The company has showrooms in Australia, Europe and United States.

In Germany rumors say that Gemballa’s disappearance would be motivated by difficult financial situation of his company.

According to Bob Lutz, General Motor President, the Cadillac Converj concept will be produced in series since the end of 2013 on Volt’s platform.

Only one year later after reveal Converj concept, at the same Detroit showroom, Cadillac had officially announced they will make a series version of the coupe displayed in 2009. The announcement was made by Bob Lutz, GM president, who said they will make a series coupe.

Nevertheless, the debut date was not revealed, but the model is waited to launch on streets by the end of 2013 and the beginning of 2014. The decision to built a premium coupe on Volt’s platform, are strengthens GM intentions to broad the range of cars with an lower impact upon the environment, thing more and more wanted by the American buyers.

BMW could present the hybrid version of the new Series 5 F10 at Geneva Showroom in 2010. The new hybrid from BMW is still in the stage of concept and it’s waited to debut on market at the end of 2010. Unlike the other models, Active Hybrid X6 and Active Hybrid 7, who already reached production, the hybrid based on Series 5 will have a gasoline engine with six cylinders and 218 HP assisted with an electrical engine of 40 HP.

Being a hybrid model, the new Active Hybrid 5 will have some aerodynamic improvements for a less fuel consumption and maximum efficiency.
