It all started when Nicole preferred to rely on votes from the public instead of making a choice between the two candidates, Rachel Crow and Marcus Canty.

Two members of the jury, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul chose to send Marcus home, while L.A. Reid would have rather eliminated Rachel. The fourth judge, Nicole Scherzinger, had the difficult task of choosing the winner.

The former Pussycat Doll singer said she couldn’t make a decision about who to send home and admitted that she deliberately forced a 2-2 judging deadlock. In this way the elimination was decided based on home viewer votes cast.

The deadlock led to 13-year-old Crow bursting in tears when she learned she was going home, having to be comforted by Simon Cowell and her mother.

“My heart comes from the right place so I get really sensitive when people are negative,” Scherzinger told reporters, according to People.

“I’m like, ‘Don’t they know I only want the best for every single person? … I want them to be the best they can be. Ultimately America made the choice.”

Scherzinger sticks by her decision, saying that she expected America to send Marcus Canty home.

“I wasn’t going to be the one to send anyone home,” she said. “Did I think America probably would have chosen Rachel? The probability was that they would have sent Marcus home.”

However, the judge says she felt bad for Crow.

“When I saw that look on her face [I felt] that I let her down, like I dropped her. I could have been holding on and I dropped her,” Scherzinger said. “She is the sunshine of our show, so it’s hard to see her cry.”

According to TMZ, after getting boos from the audience for causing the elimination of Crow, Nicole went straight to her dressing room and cried hysterically for nearly half an hour, before Crow visited and consoled her, saying she was not mad about the decision.

“I said, ‘You know how much I love and adore you. I’ve always believed in you,’ ” Scherzinger told PEOPLE of her conversation with Crow. “‘I’m so sorry all of this happened like this. But I didn’t send you home, babe.’ ”

“She told me that she was sorry,” Crow said. “I don’t know why she said that, but I saw her in her dressing room and … I told her it was okay and not her fault.”

Crow also asked her fans not to be so harsh on the X Factor judge.

“I want to say to all those people, ‘Stop, Please,’ ” Crow told People. “[Scherzinger] is the nicest person and the most beautiful person inside and out. … She is amazing, and I don’t understand why people are taking it out on her. It’s no one’s fault. It’s not even America’s fault. It’s no one person’s fault. It’s just what God had in store for me. And I will be okay.”

Kelly Rowland comes to the aid of X Factor UK. The singer joined the jury of the show to replace Dannii Minogue. The singer will team with Louis Walsh, who has signed for another season, and two newcomers, Gary Barllow, from the group Take That, and Tulisa Constantavlos from the group N-Dubz.

The former Destiny’s Child singer will replace Dannii Minogue who was unable to re-enlist for another season because of a busy schedule.

The 27-year-old singer was reportedly given a midnight deadline on Saturday to rejoin the show. Apparently, she has refused to talk to Simon Cowell and has ignored his repeated attempts to contact her, leading to her being axed for the X Factor for a second time in a week..

Filming of auditions will now begin on Wednesday without her. The British panel will now consist of Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland.

“The brutal truth is that no-one is bigger than the show – not Cheryl and not even Simon,” an associate of Cowell said.

“We have a huge show and we need to get on the road on Wednesday and we needed to know if Cheryl was coming with us. We have bent over backwards for Cheryl and she hasn’t engaged with us. She is out. That’s showbusiness.”

Cole is apparently distraught and still refusing to talk out other offers, while she has been hiding away in a flat with her mother Joan.

Rumors about the reason began to circulate, claiming that she had problems with another board member, Paul Abdul. According to friends of the singer, that’s not it. A second possibility is her Newcastle accent that would have been too confusing for viewers. Also false, according to the same friends who say her accent and diction were tested in advance.

In the end, it turned out Simon Cowell, the mentor who wanted Cheryl to have a place in the English panel of the show, apparently decided to sack her.

“She is completely shocked and stunned. She never saw this coming at all,” one of her friends revealed, adding that Cheryl also said she had been “hung out to dry” by Cowell and the X Factor USA.

A version contradicted by sources close to Cowell who ensures that he had expressed his doubts about her future on the show three days before outing her. According to Sinitta, a longtime friend of Simon Cowell, the two are now trying to find a solution so that the singer can get out of this predicament with dignity, perhaps reprise her role on the English version.

Louis Walsh, the only remaining original judge of the British panel, expressed his support and willingness to welcome Cheryl back, saying, “We’d welcome her with open arms. I’m surprised about what happened to Cheryl in the US but yes I’d like her back on the UK show,” reports Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been replaced on the panel by Nicole Scherzinger, who was initially set to co-host the programme with Welshman Steve Jones.

Cheryl Cole, who was personally selected by Simon Cowell to join X Factor’s American jury, has reportedly been fired from the show. The British musician was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger, originally recruited to co-host the show with Steve Jones.

“It hasn’t worked out,” a source said. “She’s homesick and wants to return to the U.K. She’s had enough. Whether she ends up back on U.K. X Factor is open to speculation.”

Nicole will join Simon Cowell, Antonio “LA” Reid and Paula Abdul on the jury.

According to TMZ, the producers didn’t like Cheryl Cole’s British accent, which they considered too difficult to understand for an American audience. Producers have therefore preferred to sack the singer.

A source commented on Cole’s reaction to the news: “She isn’t on the show anymore. Everyone is gobsmacked. This came out of nowhere. She had already been tested countless times. Simon had nothing to do with it. This is the network’s doing.”

The other element that explains this choice is the lack of chemistry between Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul, the other woman on the panel of jurors. The information is not yet officially confirmed, but changes will be made to the American jury.

Dannii Minogue, who was Cole’s former fellow The X Factor U.K. judge, tweeted her support: “Judging roles should come with a life jacket, drop down oxygen and a life raft!”

Russell Brand also expressed his surprise at the news on a British TV show Thursday: “Our Cheryl, kicked off X Factor? Oh no! She’s Britain’s sweetheart.”

Cheryl is said to be “royally p****d off” and plans to severe all ties with the show.

The X Factor will be aired on Fox starting in September.

Recent rumors say Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger will soon be announced as the host of the new edition. According to People, Scherzinger will join the judges Antonio “LA” Reid and Cowell himself in the American version of the British hit show, with a third judge position still vacant.

“I absolutely adore her. She’s gorgeous and ruthlessly ambitious,” Cowell commented on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show last March.

Scherzinger appeared in the British version of The X Factor last summer as a guest judge and appealed to the whole team. Judge Louis Walsh welcomed Scherzinger, saying: “This girl has the X Factor in every way. She was incredibly impressive and ticked every box.”

There is no word on whether or not Scherzinger will co-host the American show, but Cowell has hinted he would like two hosts.

The X Factor will be launched this fall on FOX.

Simon Cowell has teased that Carey will join the American X Factor.

“I think Mariah will have a role on the live shows,” Cowell told disc jockey Brown Friday on her 92.9ZZU radio show. “I met her recently and she was on great form.”

Until now, record exec Antonio “L.A.” Reid has been appointed to The X Factor’s judging panel. Cowell confirmed that Mariah was taken out of the running as a judge due to her pregnancy, but he still wants her on their show.

“Her idea was to be the judge of the judges, which only Mariah could come up with,” Cowell told Brown. “She’ll be involved in some form. I literally adore her. I love her to bits.”

More than 20 million tuned in to ITV last night to see Matt Cardle secure the £1million recording deal, Rebecca Ferguson in second place and One Direction in third place.

Cardle broke down in tears as the other finalists ran on to the stage to congratulate him.

He said: “Thanks from the bottom of my heart to everyone who voted for me. It feels really good to be putting a record out soon. To be the last man standing is just mind blowing.”

Rumors say that Cher Lloyd, who was eliminated in part 1 of the final on Saturday night, went through some hard moments during rehearsals this week, screaming at production staff and claiming that judges Dannii and Louis hated her from the start.

During the ITV2 spin-off show the Xtra Factor last night, Simon Cowel commented: “Everyone [the contestants] was happy for Matt, apart from one.”

Viewers accused the show of being fixed after Mary Byrne lost out to Cher Lloyd. The two competed in a sing-off and the judges, not the public vote as usual, were the ones to decide who would be eliminated.

In an interview with the Sun, Cowell insists that the competition is fair.

“We haven’t done anything wrong. All the artists knew there was going to be a sing-off. Mary and Cher were told last Monday to prepare a song for a sing-off if necessary. I genuinely do not know the exact placings of the artists – who is top and who is bottom. I never know those details until the series is finished. There has always been a sing-off when there are five people left in the competition. This is a lot of nonsense about nothing.

I’m always looking for ways to keep the show fresh. We knew we wanted four people in the final this year and I don’t want to be accused of doing the same thing. It’s more exciting and gives more people a chance to win it. That decision was made long ago – five or six weeks ago. It adds to the mystery and audience love the surprise element. We are doing our best to change the format. It’s more exciting to have a sing off.”

Mary Byrne, the contestant who got the boot, has no hard feelings about the elimination as she got herself a record deal.

“When I was leaving the show, Simon came over and said, ‘I’m really sorry that you’ve got to go but you’ve got your album.’ I can’t wait to sit down and start working on it. I’m like a two-year-old, I’m so excited. I was told on Saturday, because we were given our ‘save me’ songs. I got a bit stunned at first because I did think it was just public votes. I do feel sorry for my fans because they voted in their thousands, God bless them. I knew then my days were numbered. I hope I would have stayed in. The public have supported me right the way through, and if they had done it that way, it would have been great – but that didn’t happen,” Mary reveals.

In order to quiet down furious fans, a spokesman for X Factor has said that this weekend’s elimination will be the result of viewers’ vote alone.

The boys from One Direction were the first performers to learn that they would be in the final.

After a face off with Cher Lloyd, three of the judges sent Mary Byrne home. She performed James Brown’s ‘It’s a man’s world’ and Cher chose to sing ‘Everytime’ by Britney Spears.

Although it was a new thing for Cher to perform something that highlighted her voice, Mary had a stronger performance. But the judges decided to send Cher Lloyd to the final next week.

The 50-year-old single mom did however admit before the performance that she was expecting to be in the bottom two and later stated that her highlight of the contest had been ‘definitely meeting the soldiers and doing the single for the guys in Afghanistan’.

Rebecca Ferguson was the next to find out she will make it to the finals, followed by Matt Cardle. The 27-year-old, who had been suffering from a bad case of tonsillitis last week, sang ‘You’ve Got The Love’. And while this performance didn’t sound too bad, for his second song, Billy Joel’s “Always A Woman”, he did admit it “was not my best performance”.

The actors in the musical “Glee” were the guests at X Factor. For this semi-final, Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Amber Riley and others performed the song “Do not stop believing”, one of their greatest hits. At the end, they received a standing-ovation from the audience and even from the dreded jury.

The cast members took advantage of their presence on the show to promote their tour (a series of concerts in England is scheduled for June 2011) and the release of their latest album for Christmas.

The Black Eyed Peas were the last guests to perform their single “The Time (Dirty Bit)” live on the show. The four members were guests also presented their new album “The Beginning”.

On the other hand, Burke’s mother, Melissa Bell, 46, announced that she can’t accept her daughter’s offer due to possible complications that might lead to impossibility to give birth of the woman who offers the organ.

“Alex offered and was very serious about it, but if you take a kidney from a woman who hasn’t had babies you take away her chance of a family,” Melissa said.

The hackers wrote: ‘It’s been difficult living a lie for so many years…’

Later, the singer wrote on his official website: ‘I have always been a very honest person and so it is important for me to continue to be honest.

‘It has been the most amazing year so far and I feel so privileged. It’s also been a time of real self realization and I feel as if I have grown up so much in these few months.

‘There has been speculation about my sexuality in the past and I have always been honest at the time I have been asked.

‘Over the past few weeks I have really had time to reflect and to realize who I am. I spoke to my friends and family about this in the last few days and it was important to do the same for you all as you have been so supportive.

‘I have had nothing but support from you and many of you have been very open in saying that you will continue to support me whatever my sexuality. It is important to me to let you know first, so that you know the stories in the papers are true. I made the choice to speak openly about this.’

He added: ‘Everything is going well and I’m really happy to be able to move forward from here.’

Even if Joe was initially angry at the Twitter hackers, he replied: ‘Well, they’re not that far from the truth. I think the Twitter thing was the point when I realized I was gay,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’m feeling good about it, it’s liberating. Now I can just get on with my life,’ he said.
