Carla Bruni reveals a private conversation with Michelle Obama

The book was written by journalists Michael Darmon and Yves Derai who claim that this was a collaboration with Carla Bruni.

Carla Bruni describes herself as demanding, spoilt, and selfish, says one of the French authors about the French First Lady.

She also gives extraordinary insight into her life as the wife of a leader – and her relationship with some of the most prominent figures in the world, including the American president.

“On the advice of the Obamas,”‘ she says, “We don’t read the papers in the morning any more.”

She does not speak to the American First Lady very often, she adds, but said that she likes her and “could be her friend.”

In response to the explosive claims that Michelle Obama told Carla Bruni that life as in the White House was “hell”, Mrs Obama’s spokesman slapped down the claims and the French Embassy in Washington also released a statement denying that Mrs. Obama ever said those words.

Also, the Elysee Palace has denied that Carla Bruni co-operated with the biography but journalists Michael Darmon and Yves Derai, who wrote the book, claim that this was indeed a collaboration with Ms Bruni.

Moreover, the Embassy claimed Ms Bruni “distances herself completely” from the book but a CBS News radio reporter in Paris wrote on his Twitter feed that the authors are standing by the quote.

White House correspondent Mark Knoller said the pair will not divulge their source, however.

He added: “I could see how living in the WH could be “hell” at times: no privacy, press scrutiny, always on display.”

“Even so, they ALL love it here.”

Presidents’ habits

Barack Obama, 49-years-old

USA President

After having one of the most pubicized presidential campaigns of all time, Barack Obama went from senator to the 44th President of the United States while remaining a devoted father and husband.

However, Barack Obama shocked the White House staff with his working habits. Obama begins his working day two hours later than his predecessors, takes off jacket during the meetings and frequently enters into the rooms of his staff members.

Barack Obama wakes up later at 06.45, visits the gym to do exercises, has a breakfast with his family and helps his daughters to prepare for the school. Only after that he comes to the Oval Office at about 09.30.

When the White House released its first picture of the president at work in the Oval Office, there he was in his shirt sleeves. The White House was shocked when they saw the President coatless in the Oval Office. All were surprised that the President allows the staff to wear free and easy. He has different relations with his staff than his predecessor.

His press secretary Robert Gibbs confessed that Obama wandered into the press secretary’s office and caught him with his feet propped up on the desk.

Obama tried to quit smoking several times over the years and has used nicotine replacement therapy. However in June 2010, during a congratulatory phone call to president-elect Benigno Aquino of the Philippines, Obama told Aquino that he had quit and would offer advice on how to stop smoking when Aquino was himself ready for that step.

Besides all these, President Obama’s wife Michelle has revealed what her husband’s most annoying habit is – tennis.

The US first lady admitted that when they play, it is her husband who usually wins.

She said: “He beats me quite often. That gets to be pretty annoying.”

Mrs Obama was asked about the president’s flaws by TV host Jay Leno on his show.

At first, she sarcastically said he has none.

“He’s perfect,” she quipped.

But then she admitted it was their battles on the tennis court that got her peeved.

Vladimir Putin, 57-years-old

Russian Prime Minister

Two times President and currently Prime Minister. There are rumors saying that he will candidate again for the next presidential campaign (yes, Russian Constitution allows that). Now, that’s a long career as a lead of state!

Vladimir Putin trials a GPS device on his dog Koni.

Putin owns a black Labrador Retriever named Koni, who has been known to accompany him into staff meetings and greeting world leaders.

One of Putin’s favorite sports is the martial art of judo. Putin began training in sambo (a martial art that originated in the Soviet Union) at the age of 14, before switching to judo, which he continues to practice today. He is the President of the Yawara Dojo, the same Saint Petersburg dojo he practiced at when young.

In July 2010 Putin appeared at a Russian-Ukrainian Orthodox Bikers festival in Sevastopol, Ukraine riding a Harley-Davidson tricycle. The high council of Russian bikers movements unanimously voted to elevate him into a Hells Angel range with the nickname of Abaddon.

The nickname is probably influenced by angel of death and destruction Abadonna in Mikhail Bulgakov’s The Master and Margarita novel.

Vladimir Putin is also known to be flying airplanes. He co-piloted a plane over burning forests, releasing 24 tons of water on a blaze — all without any formal pilot training.

Putin, wearing a blue shirt and jeans, boarded a Russian-built Be-200 amphibious aircraft as a passenger for a flight over the Ryazan region.

But he later went into the cockpit and sat in the co-pilot’s seat, holding the throttle and pushing a button to dump 24 tons of water on forest fires about 200 kilometers southeast of Moscow.

Footage on Channel One television showed Putin hitting the button and asking the pilot, “Was that OK?”

The pilot replied, “A direct hit!”

Vladimir also likes outside sports, like skiing, running and swimming but also like fishing.

Nicolas Sarkozy, 55-years-old

French President

Named the 68th best-dressed person in the world by Vanity Fair, alongside David Beckham and Brad Pitt, Nicolas Sarkozy has also been named as the third worst-dressed person in the world by GQ.

Sarkozy is reported by Reuters to be sensitive about his height (believed to be 5 ft 5in or 5 ft 6in, 165 cm). He has been noted as wearing substantially heeled shoes and standing on hidden platforms, while the French media have pointed out that Carla Bruni frequently wears flats when in public with him.

In 2009, this was the subject of a political row, when a worker at a factory where Sarkozy gave a speech said she was asked to stand next to him because she was of a similar height (this story was corroborated by some union officials). The president’s office called the accusation “completely absurd and grotesque”, while the Socialist Party mocked his fastidious preparation.

Silvio Berlusconi, 73-year-old

Italian Prime Minister

Most of tabloid’s attention refers to his bedroom habits. The Italian prime minister, who is estimated to be worth $8 billion, had been married for 19 years with his second wife Veronica Lario, who in May, this year, reached an out-of-court divorce settlement by which she will get to keep the luxurious Milanese Villa Belvedere in Macherio, valued at $105 million, where she lives with the couple’s three children.

The 73-year-old Silvio Berlusconi attended the 18th birthday party of a Neapolitan underwear model who called him “Papi.” Veronica Lario, his 53-year-old ex-wife, said that she could no longer stay married to a man who “consorted with minors.”

Noemi Letizia, the 18-year-old who became famous for saying that she called Berlusconi “Papi” (“daddy”), told Corriere del Mezzogiorno in April that she wanted to be a showgirl, but added: “Politics interests me, too.” Was she perhaps after a seat in the regional assembly? “I prefer to stand for the Chamber,” she replied blithely. “Papi Silvio will take care of it.”

Berlusconi’s Rome residence, his own “White House”, is most famous for the bedroom with “Putin’s bed” where Berlusconi was caught on tape directing a paid escort to wait for him while he showered.

Last summer, Italians were bombarded with nude photos from the prime minister’s Sardinian parties and taped conversations between the prime minister and a notable escort who recorded their post-coital conversations on her cell phone.

One reason for all these could be a compulsive need to be loved. “I do everything in my power to make myself loved,” he explained to reporters.

Other heads of states have some intriguing way of being or manifesting the power.

Thus, the Romanian President, Traian Basescu, 58-years-old, is well known for his drinking problems and for taking some phisical measures against his people or even children (!!!).

In 2006, after the Steaua Bucharest football team qualified in the UEFA Cup semifinals, Traian Basescu, invited the team to a Bucharest restaurant to celebrate the victory. During the festivities he was filmed drinking a glass of champagne alongside Gigi Becali, the controversial owner of the team, yet after the celebration he drove his own car home.

The media accused him of defying the Romanian legislation, which considers driving under the influence either a summary or a criminal offense, depending on blood alcohol levels. Asked about the events, Basescu declined a direct answer, accused the media of exaggerating and refused further comment on the incident.

Hugo Chávez, 56-years-old, the President of Venezuela, has become increasingly open to discussing his religious views, stating that both his faith and his interpretation of Jesus’ personal life and ideology have had a profound impact on his left-wing and progressivist views. He often invokes God and asks for prayer in speeches, as he did when he asked Venezuelans to pray for Fidel Castro’s health.

He describes himself as Christian who grew up expecting to become a priest. According to him, as a result of this background his socialist policies have been borne with roots in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Google CEO, Eric Schmidt says Facebook users will be forced to change their names to escape cyber past

To escape their virtually frivolous past, many users of sites such as Facebook will get to change their name because of the potential future employers who will look through their past over the internet.

“I don’t believe society understands what happens when everything is available, knowable and recorded by everyone all the time,’ he told the Wall Street Journal.

“I mean we really have to think about these things as a society.”

An estimated 600million people have personal online profiles, many of which are accessible to total strangers.

But his comments soon drew accusations of hypocrisy. Chris Williams, of the online tech news website The Register said: “Recording everything and making it knowable by everyone all the time is Google’s stated mission.

“It is profiting handsomely from the fact that society doesn’t understand the consequences.”

Barack Obama – himself a keen social network user – warned young people “to be careful about what you post on Facebook” – in case future employers got hold of it.

“In the YouTube age whatever you do, it will be pulled up again later somewhere in your life,” he warned.

Eric Schmidt’s comments were welcomed by internet experts.

“Mr Schmidt is completely right on how much information we are giving away online,” Dylan Sharpe from the privacy website Big Brother Watch told the Independent.

“Right now there are millions of young kids and teenagers who, when they apply for jobs in ten years time, will find that there is so much embarrassing stuff about them online that they cannot take down.”

“Undoubtedly we need to educate children, and many adults, for that matter, on the value of privacy.

“But with social networking growing in scope and popularity, the real question is – can we put Pandora back in her box?”

But Mr Sharpe added that it was “a little ironic” for Mr Schmidt to claim he is concerned about privacy given that his company has made billions storing data on its customers’ internet use so that it can target them with personalized adverts.

“Google is a company that specializes in knowing where you are, what you are doing and who you are talking to,” said Mr Sharpe, whose organization has campaigned against Google Street View.

“That’s a scary prospect.”

Aretha Franklin fell in her home, breaking two ribs

68 years old, American singer accuses abdominal pain and was advised by her doctor to do a complete analysis.

Aretha Franklin, who played last week with former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, at a charity gala held in Philadelphia, had in her schedule two free concerts, in New York, early next week.

In a statement issued to The Detroit News, Aretha Franklin said she hopes to reschedule these concerts over several weeks. She is “very much looking forward to being in Brooklyn and having a foot-long hot dog at Coney Island”.

Franklin had been due to perform on Monday and Thursday next week and had also been scheduled to appear at a private birthday party.

Brooklyn borough president Marty Markowitz said he hoped the shows could be rescheduled “when she’s feeling better”.

“All of Brooklyn wishes Aretha Franklin a speedy recovery,” he said in a statement.

In 1987, Franklin became the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and last year she sang at the inauguration of US President Barack Obama.

Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama on the guest list at Chelsea Clinton’s wedding

A local resident who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the resident isn’t authorized to divulge the information, says Clinton and Mezvinsky will wed at a private mansion just outside the town about two hours north of New York City.

The Hudson Valley News is reporting that the wedding will take place at the former estate of John Jacob Astor IV. That property has breathtaking mountain and river views and is situated about 70 miles away from the Clintons’ family home in Chappaqua, N.Y.

Hillary Clinton doesn’t say a word about Chelsea’s wedding. “My lips are sealed”, she told NBC’s Andrea Mitchell in a Today Show segment this morning. “I am under very strict orders not to talk about it.”

However rumors say that Chelsea Clinton has reportedly tapped bridal icon Vera Wang to design her wedding gown. Also the President of the United States, Barack Obama, and Oprah Winfrey are among the guests, although a spokeswoman for the Clintons declined to comment this information.

“The people who are coming are her friends and the people who are meaningful in her life,” the Secretary of State said.

Among other guests are singer Barbra Streisand, Kate Capshaw and Steven Speilberg, former Clinton advisor Harold Ickes, Clinton money man Terry McAuliffe, former British Prime Minister John Major, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, media moguls Ted Turner and long-time Clinton friend Denise Rich.

Chelsea is the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Marc Mezvinsky, her fiancé, is an investment banker in New York.

Barack Obama disturbed by a fly during a speech

The President was obviously upset and tried to banish the fly with his hand. During the incident, Obama talked about health care in one of the White House halls.

“We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals,” said the PETA spokesman, adding that he already sent Obama a device that helps catches flies and then allows their release in the nature. “We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals.”

Barack Obama claims that being a father is his most important job

“Throughout life I was a lawyer, professor, senator and now president of the United States. I can say without hesitation that the most difficult job, most rewarding that I had during my life on this earth is to be a father to Sasha and Malia”, said Obama, in front of 300 people gathered in a hall in Washington.

Father’s Day was celebrated Sunday in the United States. Obama, who was raised by his mother and his grandparents, took the opportunity to highlight the importance of being a good father.

After the birth of his older daughter, Malia (who will be 12 years old in early July), “I swear that I will do everything to give my daughter what I never had, a father”, said the president, admitting that the obligations of public life sometimes prevented him of being present in his daughters life as much as he wanted to.

The Presidency didn’t say how Obama, who has a daughter of nine years, Sasha, spent on Sunday. He was to receive Monday at noon more fathers and carers at a barbecue on the lawns of the White House.

Carla Bruni made some confessions to the U.S. First Lady, Michelle Obama

According to abcnews.com, this information was revealed in the book “The Promise: President Obama, Year One” by Jonathan Alter, the Newsweek editor.

After hearing Carla Bruni’s story, “Michelle Obama laughed and said that this did not happen to them” said Jonathan Alter.

The couple Nicolas Sarkozy-Carla Bruni is famous for not being punctual. In 2008, the two made Prince Charles of Great Britain to wait, at the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Armistice of 1918.

The book “The Promise: President Obama, Year One” will be released in U.S. next week.

Is the anti-Obama group dangerous?

While some find it funny, others argue that the group with over one million fans should be removed from the social network.

The group contains an anti-Obama album of photo. One image is associated with the American leader Hitler.

The group’s name is a complex one and sounds as a joke:”Dear God, this year, you took my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze. You took my favorite actress, Farah Fawcett. You took my favorite singer, Michael Jackson. I just wanted to tell you that my favorite president is Barack Obama. Amen ”
