George Clooney to receive the Bob Hope Award

The actor will receive this award due to his exceptional efforts to mobilize the entertainment industry in service during crises.

The Bob Hope Award is set to be presented for the first time in six years on Sunday August 29 at the Nokia Theatre L.A.

This Humanitarian Award goes only for those people who showed that their “work has brought credit to the industry and whose deeds and actions have a lasting impact on society”.

Among the other three winners of this award are Oprah Winfrey in 2002, Bill Cosby in 2003 and Danny Thomas in 2004.

Besides, George Clooney showed his commitment and efforts in increasing the awareness of human rights issues and sparked constructive response to international crises.

On what concerns the efforts made by Clooney we remind: his advocacy to stop genocide in Darfur, Not On Our Watch to focus global attention and resources on preventing mass atrocities, America: A Tribute to Heroes in the wake of 9/11, Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope in 2005, A Shelter From the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast, Hurricane Katrina, and most recently, the Hope For Haiti Now telethon.
